0次元(点)→1~2次元(線~面)→3次元(空間)
at → on → in

-He is at the center of the scandal.(抽象的な「点」)

in とatの使い分け
その場所で活動することを想定している(その中で動き回る=3次元空間)→in
待ち合わせなど単に地図上のポイントとして捉えている(2次元)→at
at the intersection of A(street) and B(street) AとBの交差点で
※at the party inでないのは不思議
toとforの使い分け
到着するポイントまで示すならto、出発するときの方向を示すならfor
-I went to Hawaii.
-I went for the Oakland.
・toward(イギリスではtowards)は到達しない。
The bullet flew toward Neo but stopped before it reached him.
off ~から離れて
My hometown is located 100 kilomater off Tokyo.
onとinの使い分け 「イスに座る」の場合
sit on a chair, sit in a chair、どちらも使うがニュアンスが異なる。例を見ればわかる。
-sit on a chair
-asleep in a chair
-do yoga in a chair
-sit on a chair with her legs crossed
基本の通りである。つまり、椅子に座って行う「活動」が重視されていればin、地点としてのイスが示されているに過ぎない場合はonと考えればよい。
